DARCHEI NOAM'S YOUTH PROGRAM

DN Teens gives Darchei Noam's post Bar/Bat Mitzvah teens an opportunity to maintain connections with each other through a wide range of activities.

They include an annual teen-led Shabbat service and High Holiday programming; volunteer work within the larger community; thematic Jewish programming such as Jewish films, a chocolate seder, discussions and holiday baking. DN Teens also promotes recreational programs like beach volleyball and toboganning - for pure fun!

An annual convention with Reconstructionist teens in other cities promotes further bonding, a creative ritual experience and the development of leadership skills.

This year’s DNTeens coordinator, Valerie Zhilinsky, is currently studying biology and psychology at U of T. With a strong background in work in the non-profit sector and Ve’ahavta, she also finds great pleasure in programming for teens and young adults. Having the experience of being a residence advisor, actor, model, and more, it is clear that she has a lot to give to the community. Valerie hopes to create a youth group that is accessible to all and always fun. Lastly, she hopes to have the opportunity to meet all of Darchei Noam’s youth and give them the DNTeens they want to experience.
