Israel Connections
The Israel Connections Committee
The aim of this committee is to
keep the congregation informed about issues related to Israel,
to promote healthy debate of the issues, and to celebrate the
country and its people.
In addition to the events highlighted below, the committee
keeps an information file in our lobby, ensures that Israel-related
events in Toronto are publicised at Darchei Noam, and forges
links among people with a connection to Israel.

International Law and the Arab-Israel Conflict
International Law is at the heart of much of the Middle Eastern
conflict and debate. Understanding this topic is essential to having an
informed opinion. Presented by Prof. Ed Morgan, who teaches
international and constitutional law at the Faculty of Law, U of T.
Israel and the Media: Perspectives on Reporting
With panelists Esther Enkin, Chief Journalist, CBC; and Paul Michaels,
Director of Communications, Canada Israel Committee. Moderated
by Dawn Rosen.
Viewpoints on Hamatzav, the Situation in Israel
A panel discussion with representatives from three distinct points of view:
Prof. E. Adler from Hebrew U representing the "left"; Simon Rosenblum
from the Canadian Jewish Congress representing the "centre"; and Moshe Ronen from the CJC
representing the "right". Moderated by Dr. Frank Bialystok.

- Every year, the committee organizes a Kabbalat shabbat in honour of
Yom Ha'atzmaut.

organization in Israel

- Keith Landy, Chairman of CJC, delivered the Shabbat D'var Torah and
spoke about Israel and the recent World Jewish Congress
