Darchei Noam was proud to receive this award from the
Jewish Reconstructionist Federation Tikun Olam Initiative. Part of the
award announcement read:
"In light of their sustained efforts for
social justice, building of partnerships with diverse communities, and
demonstration of a powerful commitment to address issues of hunger,
homelessness, and affordable housing, the JRF Tikkun Olam Committee
recognizes Darchei Noam as an outstanding example of congregational
tikkun olam work. May their efforts serve as an inspiration to all of
us!"
Our first Yad Mordecai Keren Torah award from the JRF was for this four-part series,
presented by some of the top Jewish scholars in Toronto:
Rabbi Elyse
Goldstein on the Torah; Tirzah Meacham on the Talmud; Ruby Newman on
contemporary Israeli writing; and Frieda Forman on Yiddish writing.
We were very proud to receive our second Yad Mordecai award for this symposium
about architectural, religious, and experiential dimensions
of the synagogue. With Jack Diamond, Vivian Rakoff, and Rabbi Larry
Pinsker; and moderated by Les Klein.
