Religious services on Shabbat, Festivals and High Holy Days are
traditional in form and progressive in content. Members participate in
leading services, chanting Torah, or presenting a D'var Torah. Women and
men
participate fully and equally in all areas of synagogue life - from
minyan to aliyah, from Torah reading to serving as cantor or Rabbi.
If you would like to participate by chanting Torah or Haftarah, or
leading some part of services, please contact darcheinoam@bellnet.ca.
Our prayer books (Kol Haneshamah) are gender neutral. Hebrew prayers are accompanied by a transliteration as well as a translation, to encourage greater understanding and participation.
Congregants are encouraged to express their convictions and voice their questions in an environment of mutual respect, and to apply what we learn through social action, home ritual and mutual support during times of joy and sorrow.
Shabbat services are Saturday morning at 10 am. Childcare is available.
There is a Kiddush
lunch every Shabbat, which may be sponsored by individuals or families
having a simcha, or may be potluck. All attendees at services are
always invited to share in the Kiddush.
We also have Friday night services once a month, children's services every Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 a.m., Minyan M'chadesh monthly, and of course services for all the holidays and festivals. Please check the calendar for dates and times.
